G.L. McQueary was born on July 19 in Jersey City, New Jersey and spent his formative years attending Lincoln High School. Following his graduation, he pursued his passion for aviation at the Teterboro School of Aeronautics, specializing in aircraft airframe and powerplant. His academic journey led him to Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim, New Hampshire, where he majored in Aeronautical Science.
However, it was the stage that ultimately called to G.L. In 1990, he embarked on his acting career with a standout performance as Blue Haven in the stage play "Ceremonies in Dark Old Men," produced by the Phoenix Ensemble in New Jersey. From that pivotal moment, G.L. dedicated himself to the craft of acting, participating in numerous productions including "A Soldiers Play," "Fences," "A Raisin In The Sun," and "Split Second."
In 1993, G.L. made his professional stage debut at the Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, New York, with the premiere production of "THE GANG ON THE ROOF" by Dan Owens. He continued to expand his repertoire, touring the southern United States with the gospel musical play "A Mother’s Love."
Relocating to California in 1994, G.L. encountered renowned actor John Amos, which led to opportunities in both stage and film. In Los Angeles, he showcased his talent in productions such as "The Colored Museum," "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me," and "Private Battle." His portrayal of "Bobo" in "A Raisin In The Sun" earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor by the Santa Monica Theater Guild.
Transitioning into film and television, G.L. immersed himself in projects like "Unidentified," "Young American Gangstas," and "The Cloth." In 2005, he received critical acclaim for his leading role in the comedy short "RiB Shack," earning the GAFFERS Award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy.
Today, G.L. remains actively involved in the entertainment industry, balancing his time between acting, writing, and producing. His original play "Momma’s Porch" is garnering attention and is being considered for an off-Broadway production. When not on set or stage, he dedicates himself to honing his craft at RLS (Richard Lawson Studios) under the guidance of Master teacher Richard Lawson.
In 2024, audiences can anticipate G.L.'s appearances in "Joker: Folie à Deux" and "Exhibiting Forgiveness," showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft. With a career spanning stage, screen, and beyond, G.L. McQueary continues to captivate audiences with his talent and passion for storytelling.
